Learn More About Alpha, OH

Located in Greene County, Ohio, the quiet, quaint community of Alpha is not far from nearby Beavercreek; it is located on the east side of the Greater Dayton Metro Area.
The United States Postal Service office building in Alpha has the ZIP code listed as 45301. Alpha has had a post office in operation there since 1850. Because of this, Alpha is one of the oldest communities in that area.
Alpha’s name comes from the first letter of the Greek alphabet. This is because it established the first mill in Greene County.
At one point, Alpha was a location of a railway station stop along the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad. However, that railway and the stop was closed down many years ago. Like other areas across Ohio, the tracks were later turned into a bike path, which is still there to this day.
If one delves back further in history, before the community was given the name Alpha, it was previously known as Harbine or Harbines.
